Airman and Family Readiness

Coupon Program

Being in an overseas location provides an added opportunity to use coupons to save on groceries, even though we do not receive weekly newspapers with coupons to clip.  At RAF Alconbury, and other overseas bases, coupons are accepted by our Commissaries up to 6 months after they have expired.

Many organizations and individuals in the US maintain coupon banks and gather coupons as they expire and then mail them to us.  These coupons are received daily at the Airman and Family Readiness Center via the USPS.  Staff at the A&FRC separate these coupons into small sandwich type bags and affix labels to them for informational purposes.  These bags are then distributed to facilities around the base such as the Commissary, Child Development Center, Youth Center, Library, Bowling Alley, Lodging and the A&FRC so that individuals can pick up as many bags as they want.

There are a few tips concerning coupons that we would like to pass on to people sending coupons to us. Most families are looking for food coupons, common household goods and baby items.  Other coupons and internet coupons are generally not collected and then must be recycled. When sending your expired grocery coupons keep in mind the time it takes to mail your coupons internationally--usually many weeks--so do try to get them sent off quickly.  Of course if you know a military family personally you should probably send your coupons directly to them.

When you mail your envelopes address them as:

AFRC
423 ABS/DPF
APO AE 09470

Note: The APO/FPO is used for the "City" and AA/AE/AP is the "State"

Thank You for Helping Us!

The  coupons you send benefit military members and their families overseas.  We would like to thank everyone who takes the time to send in coupons.
