Leaders Encouraging Airman Development (LEAD) Program
- Wing CC delegated the authority to nominate highly qualified airmen to attend the AF Preparatory School with the intention of an academy appointment to follow
- Fifty slots per year have been reserved for active-duty enlisted airmen
- Airmen must be no older than 22 on July 1 of the year entering the Preparatory School

- 85 slots per year have been reserved for active-duty airmen for direct entry into the AF Academy

Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC)
The mission of the AFROTC program is to recruit and train tomorrow’s Air Force leaders. Recruits come from college campuses as well as the active-duty enlisted corps. The programs listed on this fact sheet are the means by which qualified enlisted candidates begin their journey to a commission in the Air Force.
Scholarship for Outstanding Airman to ROTC (SOAR)
SOAR is a commander's program to select top-flight enlisted members for commissioning. Selections are made at the MAJCOM level for most airmen.
- Will pay up to $18,000 in scholarships, an annual textbook allowance of $900, and a monthly nontaxable stipend of $250-$500 (may use MGIB and other scholarships)
- Any major is acceptable
- Applications must be postmarked by 15 September to USAFE
- Airman Scholarship and Commissioning Program (ASCP)
- Member must separate from active duty to attend school from 2 – 4 years
- Will receive annually up to $18,000 in scholarships and a $900 textbook allowance, plus a monthly nontaxable stipend of $250-$500 (may use MGIB and other scholarships)
- Technical majors are preferred
- Applications must be postmarked by 15 October
Professional Officer Course – Early Release Program (POC-ERP)
- Member must separate from active duty and be able to complete degree within 2 years
- Student will receive monthly stipend of $250-$500 and an annual $900 textbook allowance
- If eligible, may use MGIB and other available scholarships

Airman Education & Commissioning Program (AECP)
Go to school and still receive full pay and benefits, plus up to $15,000 in tuition per year and a $600 annual textbook allowance
If selected, student will go to school for up to three years to complete the degree and then attend Basic Officer Training
- Specific fields of study are meteorology, nursing, physics, foreign languages, foreign area studies, math, computer science, and any ABET-accredited engineering major
- Applications must be postmarked by 15 February

Officer Training School (OTS)
- Possess a baccalaureate degree or be within 365 days of completion from the board date you apply
- Non-rated applicants must be selected, graduated from BOT and commissioned prior to age 35
- Rated applicants must be able to enter undergraduate flying, undergraduate navigator, or air battle management training prior to age 30
