Our destination for this day of riding is Flash, England’s highest village. Our hosts are David and Liz Andrews who run the Northfield Farm Riding and Trekking Center in Flash.
Over your two hours ride, you’ll explore this beautiful area of the Peak District on the back of a horse that has been selected for you, according to your riding ability. Staff from the center accompanies the group and individuals with greater experience are able to break off for a gallop.
Children will be expected to ride independently, so they must have some riding experience. (Younger children can participate, but must have reached a very good riding standard)
A riding helmet must be worn and is provided by the stables. English Pounds are required for food and refreshments throughout the day. After our morning ride and weather dependent we’ll travel to Hartington, a beautiful small village for lunch and a drink (You can pack your own). After which we will explore one of the regions limestone gorges, a walk of approx 4 miles, on completion, locate an evening meal stopover, before our return journey
A pillow is a good idea for the bus ride:to rest you’re head on the way there and your bottom on the way back. A change of clothes also is recommended (unless you’re fond of that horsey smell) and a camera to share photos with friends and family.
An ODR staff member will take photos of your horse riding experience as cameras are unsafe to use while participating.
Waterproofs can be supplied by ODR for the day, if required.
